Korda Safe Zone 4mm Rubber Bead - 25 pieces Weedy Green

We originally developed these rubber beads for use with our Flying Back Leads. The hole in these beads is tapered, meaning it is larger at one end of the bead than at the opposite end. If you string it up with the larger hole pointing towards the rod, the narrower hole can slip over the connecting knot between the leader and the mainline and find a hold there.
A rubber bead prevents the flying back lead from slipping over the leader connection knot. This would prevent the flying back lead from flying backwards on the main line during flight. But that is exactly the purpose of a flying back lead.

The Rubber Beads are also suitable for the Safe Zone Leader. For example, when you employ these chod-style safe zone leaders. Then two rubber beads fix the short chod rig on one of the two slightly thicker tungsten sections and hold it in position.

The rubber beads are also used in the Shokka rig. There they provide the “back stop” effect. To do this, slide the rubber beads onto one of the two tungsten sections of the leader. When the fish pulls the leader through the lead after the bite, the lead will eventually hit the rubber bead and thus provide the desired self-hook effect.
