Tungsten beads are primarily used for tying weighted nymphs for fly fishing. But they are also ideal for adding more casting weight to rubber baits when fishing for trout in ultra-light spin fishing. Tungsten is the English word for the metal tungsten. Compared to lead, it is much more environmentally friendly and has a significantly smaller volume. Baits with tungsten beads sink faster because the beads have less water resistance. Depending on the color, the beads are an inconspicuous weight or irritate with UV-active colors. To assemble, they are pushed onto the hook up to the eye and fixed with a drop of superglue. The beads are also available in a slotted version. These are mainly used on jig hooks with an angled eye. This makes them suitable for fishing with our Omura hooks and soft baits.
