Without the insights from our Underwater Film Part 4, we would hardly have developed this lead. There's no question about it: on hard, gravelly ground, inline leads hook faster and more effectively than lead-in leads with swivels. Because with inline skates, the fish always lifts the lead at its heavy end, and that's where the leader comes off. In addition, with Korda inline leads: The tubular insert, cast from hard plastic, releases the swivel relatively quickly. So the swivel is only semi-fixed. The fish will strike itself, but the lead will quickly detach from the swivel, making it difficult for the fish to shake off the hookbait.

But back to the Square Pear Swivel. Its lead body is extremely compact. Without moving (and the lead) much, the fish feels the full weight of the lead when it is pulled off. The self-hook effect is correspondingly good.

The most compact form of a body is still a sphere. But it has the disadvantage of rolling – both on sloping bottoms and when the fish swims away after sucking in the bait. In addition, a ball does not taper. It is precisely this conical shape that helps to minimize the risk of tangles.

So we gave the sphere four flat sides and a slightly conical shape. The result was the Square Pear. Even in its hanging version with swivel (Swivel), it provides an excellent self-hooking effect. Only the vortex dampens the attack minimally.

Our Square Pear Swivel is already in its second generation. The leads of the first generation turned out to be less than ideal. They were simply too "square". As a result, the leads often ended up on the side opposite the swivel. With which the vortex rose up. Really not ideal.

The square pear flies almost as far as a normal pear lead. But it creates a better hook effect. You only have to switch to a Skyliner, a Tournament or even a Distance Casting Swivel lead if you don't reach the desired casting distance. The general rule is: Leads with a swivel fly farther than inline leads.
