The V-Series was designed by anglers, for anglers! After extensive research with charter captains and their guests, it was quickly possible to find out what exactly the anglers wanted for their reels.
Many charter captains and anglers complained that with conventional reels the thrust lever of the brake would be “shaken” downwards by the vibrations of the engine. The result are bites in which the spool spins and the line remains on the spool as a wig after the fish is lost. Penn's solution is as simple as it is ingenious! A small plate on the thrust lever runs in a toothed guide rail. This means that the lever can no longer move due to vibrations and change the brake setting. Another important point was whether there was a way to lock the brake lever in a position to prevent inexperienced anglers from moving the brake levers during the fight. This problem has also been resolved in the International® V-Series. If you want one of the best big game reels out there, it can only be a Penn International® V-Series reel.
