Korda Square Pear: Swivel 56 grams
Without the knowledge from our underwater film part 4, we would hardly have developed this lead. No question about it: on hard, gravelly ground, inline leads hook faster and more effectively than suspension leads with swivel. Because with inliners, the fish always lifts the lead at its heavy end, and that's where the leader comes off. In addition, with Korda inline leads: The tube insert, cast from hard plastic, releases the vortex relatively quickly. So the vortex is only semi-fixed. The fish strikes itself, but then the lead quickly detaches from the vortex, which makes it difficult for the fish to shake off the hookbait again.
But back to the Square Pear Swivel. Its lead body is extremely compact. Without moving much (and the lead), the fish gets to feel the entire lead weight when it is pulled. The self-hooking effect is correspondingly good.
The most compact form of a body is still a sphere. But this has the disadvantage of rolling - both on sloping water floors and when the fish swims away after sucking in the bait. In addition, a ball is not tapered. However, it is precisely this conical shape that helps to minimize the risk of tangles.
So we gave the ball four flat sides and a slightly conical shape. Out came the Square Pear. Even in its suspension version with swivel, it ensures an excellent self-hooking effect. Only the vortex minimally dampens the attack.
Our Square Pear Swivel is already in its second generation. The first generation leads turned out to be less than ideal. They were simply too "square". As a result, the leads often came to rest on the side opposite the vortex. With which the vortex rose up. Truly not ideal.
The square pear flies almost as far as a normal pear lead. But it creates a better hook effect. You only have to switch to a Skyliner, a Tournament or even a Distance Casting Swivel lead if you do not achieve the desired throwing distance. As a general rule: hanging leads with swivel fly further than inline leads.
