Find out quickly and easily how much line fits on your fishing reel – with our practical line calculatorSimply enter the relevant information and see the result immediately. Below we also offer you additional information and helpful tips on the correct line setting.
A line calculator is an indispensable tool for every angler who wants to fish precisely and efficiently. When casting, the fishing line unwinds and rubs against the sides of the reel. To keep this to a minimum, the reel should be completely full. Using the line calculator, you can avoid winding too much or too little line onto the reel. This enables the best casting distance and bait control. This is particularly worthwhile when fishing for large fish or in challenging waters.
Cord lengths are given in meters (e.g. 235), diameters in mm (e.g. 0,18).
This is where the reel capacity is determined. There is an indication on the reel in meters and millimeters. The two values are entered at cord length and diameter
Here you simply enter the Diameter the desired main line. Now the Length of the main line calculatedthat you need to completely fill the role.
You already know which fishing line you want to spool and want to use a cheap filler line? Good idea! To do so, mark the checkbox use filler cordto expand the line calculator accordingly.
Now enter the desired length and thickness of the main line you want to use under cord length and diameter.
Now just the Diameter the filling line and then the Length of the filling cord calculatedthat you need to completely fill the role.
The desired length of string is automatically calculatedas soon as data is entered or changed. It is displayed in the corresponding field.
The display shows Result as text.
Please note that the calculated line length may differ slightly from the actual value, as various factors such as the type of spool and the force used when spooling are not taken into account in the calculation.
filling cord
An inexpensive line, often monofilament, is spooled onto the reel as filler under the main line, which is often braided, to bulk up the reel and reduce costs, and its diameter is often different from that of the main line.
main line
The main line, often braided, is spooled directly onto the reel and used for actual fishing. Its length and breaking strength play a crucial role in fishing effectiveness.
The number "3000" on a fishing reel represents its size and line capacity. These numbers, such as 1000, 3000 or 5000, give anglers an idea of how much line fits on the reel and what applications it is suitable for.
A 3000 size reel is in the middle range of sizes and is often used for fishing for larger fish or in stronger currents. Larger numbers also usually mean more line capacity, which is especially important with longer or stronger lines.
It is important to note that exact sizing may vary from brand to brand. A 3000 reel from one manufacturer may be slightly smaller or larger from another manufacturer.
Braided cord consists of many fine threads that are woven together, making it particularly strong. Since this structure is more complex, the actual diameter may be larger than stated on the packaging.
For example:
A 0,25mm braided line might be comparable to a 0,30mm monofilament line. Monofilament lines are made of a continuous material, which gives them a more uniform thickness. These differences in diameter affect how much line fits on the reel and how the line performs during casting and fighting.
Please note that the diameters given for braided lines are often significantly smaller than the actual values. For this reason, our line calculator provides more precise results for monofilament lines than for braided lines. Factors such as the tension when spooling or smaller tolerances during production are not included in the calculation. Nevertheless, the results are reliable and offer a good orientation. In our tests, the line calculator was very close to the actual line capacity.
Note: Please note that the results of our line calculator are only approximate guidelines. The actual amount of line that fits on your reel may vary slightly due to various influences.
