Since its foundation in 1973, CORMORAN has developed from a "newcomer with innovative ideas" to the market leader in Germany.
In a market determined by wholesale, our strategy has always been to focus on independent product development. Only through an individual positioning and product strategy is it possible to create the decisive additional benefit for the angler. The clear commitment to a brand strategy, coupled with decisiveness, flexibility and innovative spirit reflects this. Another aspect is the international orientation, which is evident in the early development of the relevant foreign markets.
We set standards
CORMORAN has presented the market-moving innovations of the last few years in almost all product groups.
Innovations in the rod and reel sector
In 1973, with the introduction of the Fuji rings in Europe, CORMORAN completely replaced the wire / metal rings that had been customary up to then within a year. The rod brand "BLACK STAR", the first telescopic rod with short pitch, black color and Fuji rings was introduced. The next groundbreaking step can be seen with the introduction of the first broad range of carbon fiber rods on the market - all under the brand name "KUNNAN". This introduction heralded a completely new era. "ROTARY". The first free spool reel in the world. The concept used in the "ROTARY" was the basis for the first bite indicator free-wheeling reel with an integrated electronic bite indicator. CORMORAN ELBAS - still an absolute classic today.
Innovations in the cord sector
CORMORAN has also developed the decisive innovations of the last 20 years in the line segment and thus shaped the market: CORTEST Super Match. With this cord, CORMORAN broke the previous sound barrier in terms of load capacity by a good 20%. CORTEST Super Match was stronger than all monofilament lines of the time and has not yet been surpassed by any monofilament line. CORASTRONG. The evolution of fishing lines began with the first braided Coramid spinning line (registered trademark of CORMORAN). CORASTRONG is the synonym for braided lines. CORTEST-UFS. The first invisible fishing line was introduced by CORMORAN. CORTEST-UFS (ultra fast sinking) made of fluoro carbon still fascinates the fishing world today.
Innovations in the fishing hook sector
CGS - chemically sharpened point. Another revolution from CORMORAN. Carbon steel hook with chemically sharpened tip - ultra-sharp and extremely durable thanks to a new special process. The CGS technology made it possible for us to establish completely new hook shapes - the “target fish hooks”, nowadays everyone is familiar.
Innovation in marketing and product development
Encouraged by the ban on live bait fish, CORMORAN brought an artificial bait program onto the market under the slogan "The bait fish is dead, long live the bait fish" that was deceptively based on nature. To this day, this program stands for success in artificial bait fishing under the name "CORA Z".
CORMORAN comprehensively represented as a brand
Not only the area of product marketing, but also trade marketing has shaped the development of CORMORAN. Our goal is and was to create a win-win situation from the start. Our stated goal is to inspire both retailers and end consumers!
Consistently international orientation
CORMORAN is represented in almost all European countries - this is reflected in the corporate structure. Our own sales structures and branches in the respective countries show our claim to communicate and strengthen the CORMORAN brand internationally. With its international orientation, CORMORAN promoted the establishment of the European association EFTTA and the European trade fair EFFTEX.
The claim "SUCCESS THROUGH TECHNOLOGY" illustrates the position that CORMORAN has developed in the market over the past few years. As one of the most important fishing tackle developers and manufacturers, brand awareness and acceptance is growing steadily. The CORMORAN brand is clearly committed to its home market of Germany. The international sales structures are largely controlled and supplied from Germany. Due to our presence in other European countries, our national dealers and end users also benefit from an extremely comprehensive range of products. The in-house research and development department works hand in hand with specialists who examine every piece of news meticulously and subject it to numerous practical tests. National and international titles clearly demonstrate the competence of our partners in this area. The established network enables smooth communication between practice and development - the result is the implementation of fishing ideas through to market-moving products.
